Mighty V8 Lexus powers in
August 20, 2014
With a price-tag just a fiver shy of £60k the most powerful production V8 coupe yet produced by Lexus – the RC F – is due to arrive in the UK in January.
Boasting lean, low-slung styling, the car will be launched in the UK in two versions – RC F and the RC F Carbon, and both come equipped with the same mighty V8 engine.
It is a new 5.0-litre, 32-valve V8 that is the most powerful Lexus has yet created for a production car. Developed specifically for the RC F and matched to a specially calibrated eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission, it’s set to deliver more than 450bhp and 520Nm of pulling power.
Standard performance and handling features include Brembo brakes, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, Lexus Drive Mode Select, Sachs monotube shock absorbers, an active rear spoiler and 19-inch forged alloy wheels.
And anyone opting for the RC F Carbon version will see additional features like a torque-vectoring differential and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic roof, bonnet and rear spoiler.
Techno treats include LED headlights with automatic high beam function, dual-zone climate control, a 10-speaker multimedia system including DAB, DVD player, a new remote touchpad control, Lexus Premium Navigation and Drive Mode Select.
Lexus claims the cabin will boast high-grade leather upholstery and electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions, plus ‘F’-themed details, including the steering wheel, pedals, trim and seat design.
Safety measures include a reversing camera, Lane Departure and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Hill Assist Control, a blind spot monitor and eight airbags.
