Positive times ahead for Honda
March 3, 2016
Honda has unveiled the next stage in the renewal of its European car range at this week’s Geneva Motor Show, including the global premiere of the Civic Hatchback Prototype.
The car which is scheduled for a European launch in early 2017 will be produced at Swindon and will be exported to global markets, including the US.
The all-new hatchback is wider, lower and longer than the current model. In addition, new larger and wider wheels and tyres give a feeling of an athletic muscular stance, while the long wheelbase, short overhangs and sleek cabin area further add to the dynamic feel of the car.
When viewed from the front, a short overhang with large air intakes presents a sharp and aggressive interpretation of Honda’s family face. LED headlights and daytime running lights flow from beneath the boldly sculpted bonnet into accentuated wheel arches.
Beneath the bonnet new Civic will boast a range of three powertrain options, a 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo petrol engines, and a revised 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel unit.
At the Swiss show Honda also announced the cost of its all-new NSX supercar (pictured below) which comes in at approximately £130,000 when it goes on sale in the UK in the autumn.
