Alfa Romeo Spider 3.2JTS V6 Q4

IF ever a car lived up to its very high expectations, it has to be the Alfa Romeo Spider.
Guaranteed to turn heads in any crowd, it is packed with Italian flair and with a little bit of summer sunshine can be the perfect vehicle.

The roof can be lowered or raised in less than 25 seconds at the flick of a switch – this is a factor to take into account considering how quickly our weather is prone to changing.

Powered by a massive 3.2-litre engine, the Spider really does take open-top motoring to a new dimension. Add in the permanent four-wheel-drive and a host of classy specifications and the car soon becomes one for the wish-list.

The downside is that with the roof closed, it does feel a tad on the claustrophobic side and the appeal of that bone-jingling ride that seemed so much fun on a sunny day, becomes more than a little irritating in the torrential rain.

But that’s the risk every open-top motoring enthusiast takes.

One thing that’s guaranteed with an Alfa Romeo is its chic and style and the Spider is no exception.

Boasting fabulous flowing lines the two-seater has certainly been designed with an emphasis on ergonomic functionality.

There are, for example, multi-lingual displays, clear instrument panels and controls that have been perfectly positioned.

And although the roof lowers into its own made-to-measure compartment, the storage area remains deceptively spacious with a number of extra storage areas throughout the cabin.

Also included is dual zone climate control, a rear parking sensor, tinted windows and cruise control, along with plenty more.

And as one might expect, the safety features are excellent too, including anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, five airbags and a fire prevention system, which cuts off any fuel supply in the event of an accident.

All in all, the Spider is a fun-packed, powerful drive, and the whole experience is improved ten-fold with a little ray of sunshine!
