On your marks for the Fast Car Festival
December 21, 2015
An all-new show with a festival feel and a wide variety of performance car action is set to be a must-attend event in the 2016 show season when it takes place next summer. The Fast Car Festival takes place on the last weekend in July and will feature cars from all over the world, with the honoured marque for the inaugural event being Lotus. Yet as well as the cars, the focus is as much on having fun, with a live stage and a full-on festival atmosphere.
Among the highlights of the show will be displays, live demonstrations and car collections from around the world, filling Donington’s vast infield and paddock areas. There will also be the finest classic, performance and motorsport machinery from all manufacturers, along with a significant club display area.
One of the most prestigious clubs, Supercar Driver, will have a large presence at the event, bringing along their members’ finest hyper and super cars. Bugatti Veyrons, Pagani Zondas and Koenigseggs line up alongside Ferrari 458s, Porsche 911 Turbos and Lamborghini Huracans. The TVR Car Club and the Lotus Drivers’ Club will head up the British paddock, with the finest performance marques from around the globe fighting for attention at Donington.
The high-octane event will offer a weekend of sights, smells and sounds from performance motoring past, present and future. The famous Donington circuit will see plenty of track action, with performance cars of all shapes, ages and sizes being put through their paces to please the crowds. Be it classic, retro, current or future, if it’s fast and has four wheels, then it will be found at The Fast Car Festival. Hot hatches, sports and hypercars and even the future of performance from Formula E racers will take to the track.
With hot laps from machines as diverse as American muscle through to circuit and drift racers, the variety of vehicles on track will be huge. Show goers will also be able to take their own vehicle out in a number of public track sessions. There’s also the chance for an unforgettable thrill ride, by hopping into the passenger seat of some of the world’s fastest and rarest super cars for a few adrenaline-filled laps of the former F1 circuit.
Away from the thrills and spills of the track, visitors will be able to soak up the atmosphere of the festival, with music, food and dress evoking every great motoring nation and trend from across the world. There will be vast club areas within the infield, where you can browse hundreds of the finest, rarest, fastest and priciest cars around.
Meanwhile, over at the main stage there will be live music and interviews with motoring celebrities, along with an ‘experts’ quiz team, taking on the most knowledgeable show goers in an Eggheads-style challenge.
The main party will get underway on the Saturday night, though, with licensed bars and a selection of live bands, followed by appearances from club DJs and an evening of party music.
The Fast Car Festival is brought to you by the team behind the world famous TRAX and Japfest events and looks set to be one of the most entertaining, original and enthralling shows in 2016.
