Denza supercar aims to take on Porsche

July 9, 2026

Denza is going after the supercar segment with the Z, which will be a rival to the mighty Porsche 911.

Denza Z

Denza is the premium sub-brand of the Chinese firm, BYD, and having just debuted in the UK, the firm is already aiming to be at the very top with the Z supercar.

It features a two-seater layout that will be available in Coupe and drop-top Spider form and is fitted as standard with an electric powertrain.

It’s equipped with a 76kWh battery pack mated to quad electric motors that are fitted on both the front and rear axles of the car. It has a combined power output of 1,582bhp and can complete the 0-62mph dash in just 2.25 seconds, or 1.96 seconds when equipped with the semi-slick tyre package on the Racing variant. In terms of top speed, the Coupe and Spider top-out at 186mph, though the Racing model with the semi-slick tyres will unlock the car’s full potential, reaching 217mph.

Denza claims that the Z Coupe has a claimed WLTP electric range of up to 254 miles, while that drops to 248 miles in the Spider, and the Racing variant can travel up to 236 miles. All models support Denza’s ultra-rapid Flash Charging network and can be topped up from a 10 to 97 per cent charge in just nine minutes.

Orders for the Z Coupe, Spider and Racing are open now with deliveries expected to arrive before the end of next year. Meanwhile, prices and UK specifications will be revealed at a later date.
