Keeping you cool as temperatures soar
June 26, 2026
As the UK experiences peak summer temperatures, commuting or embarking on a family road trip in a stifling vehicle can be exhausting.

Nissan is helping drivers beat the heat with its NissanConnect technology, available across its all-electric vehicle line-up. The system allows owners of the Ariya, new LEAF and Micra cars, plus the Townstar electric van to remotely control their cabin temperature before they even open the door.
Using the NissanConnect smartphone app, drivers can activate the climate control on demand or set a customised schedule to match their daily routine, ensuring a perfectly chilled cabin for the morning commute or the school run. If the vehicle is charging, the energy used to cool the car is drawn from the grid, too, preserving maximum range for the journey to come.
Elodie Sawruk, Product Manager at Nissan GB, said: “UK summers can present challenging cabin temperatures for motorists, especially at the start of a journey. Car interiors can heat up quickly, making the first few miles uncomfortable.
“This is where the NissanConnect app comes into its own. By allowing drivers to cool the cabin remotely, we remove that initial discomfort, ensuring a relaxed, safer, and more comfortable start to every trip.”
For those seeking the ultimate escape from the summer heat, the Ariya crossover takes cabin comfort even further. Alongside the smartphone pre-cooling feature, it features climate-controlled front seats on the higher Evolve grade. This allows occupants to activate built-in seat ventilation, which blows cooled air through the seat surface to ensure instant, personalised relief from hot weather.
Beyond climate control, the NissanConnect app provides remote access to battery state of charge, vehicle location, and charging history. On board, Nissan’s electric models also support voice-controlled navigation, calls, and media streaming, alongside standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus Google built-in on the new LEAF and Micra.
The technology arrives alongside an expanding Nissan EV line-up. The iconic Nissan LEAF enters its third generation, with the British-built crossover now in production at the Sunderland plant and arriving in showrooms very soon. It starts from £32,249 for the 75kWh model, while prices for the 52kWh model will be announced very soon. The LEAF is joined by the recently launched sixth-generation Micra, which brings compact, all-electric agility and intuitive technology to everyday city driving. The Micra starts at £21,495 (including Electric Car Grant) for the 40kWh Engage model.
