Hyundai’s new electric ‘Aero’ hatch, the Ioniq 3, has gone on sale with a starting price of £22,245 for the entry-level model.

The Ioniq 3 will be a rival to the Kia EV2 and Cupra Raval and will sit above the firm’s Inster in its EV model range.

With prices kicking off at £22,245 for the standard Advance trim, the model boasts 16-inch alloy wheels, LED front headlights, rear parking sensors and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. The Premium grade bumps the price up to £27,445 and adds kit such as 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and power-folding door mirrors.

The Ultimate comes in at £29,945 and is complemented by matrix LED headlamps, heated front seats and steering wheel and interior ambient lighting. Range-topping N Line Evo cars gain N Line bespoke exterior and interior styling, 19-inch N Line alloy wheels and a larger 14.6-inch infotainment system.

Underneath, there will be a choice of two battery pack options. The first is a 42kWh unit that will be available on the entry-level Advance model and it’s hooked up to a single electric motor that develops 145bhp and can travel up to a claimed 213 miles on the WLTP cycle. Meanwhile, a larger 61kWh battery with a single electric motor will be available as standard on the rest of the range and pumps out 133bhp and can travel a claimed 308 miles.
