SEAT is bringing its Leon model bang up to date with some rather subtle changes, including sharper styling traits along with some additional techno treats.

There will be the introduction of a new trim level called XCELLENCE plus the addition of two new engines.

The range-topping Leon XCELLENCE will feature leather and alcantara upholstery as an option as well as chrome body highlights, LED interior lighting and keyless entry and start. The car boasts a wider grille, new light clusters and sharper streamlining.

Extra on-board technology includes a semi-autonomous drive system that controls the car in slow moving traffic, blind spot monitors, road sign recognition and a wireless phone charger. There is also a software upgrade which allows voice and gesture control for the onboard systems.

Two new powertrains – a 1.0-litre three cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel – are being added to the range. Both have power outputs of 115PS.

Although the new Leon prices are yet to be announced, the car will be on the road in February.

SEAT will also be releasing a hot new Leon Cupra range during the first few months of 2017.
