Clean bill of health for the LEAF
June 4, 2013
The 10,000th Nissan LEAF has been sold to a nurse from Paris which cements the zero emission car’s status as the best-selling electric vehicle of all time.
The LEAF went on sale back in March 2011 in a handful of markets and the new generation model is being built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the North East, with sales starting this month.
Nissan’s Europe director of electric vehicles Jean-Pierre Diernaz said: “This is an important moment for electric cars in Europe and comes at a time where we are seeing a sales momentum building for the Nissan LEAF across the region.
“In March we sold over 1,000 LEAF models, which was the best month since the car was launched.”
