Kia’s latest SUV concept car is due to take to the stage at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit which starts on January 11.

With its pronounced wheel arches and angular lines, it is larger than the current flagship Sorento model in the South Korean company’s line-up.

Kia says the concept is aimed at the premium 4×4 market and comes only weeks before it is due to launch its new generation medium-sized Sportage SUV in Europe.

The concept car, which would be likely to be targeted at markets outside Europe, has been designed at Kia’s studios in California where the current Soul crossover was created. However, the company says there are no immediate production plans for the larger SUV.
