Public choose colour name for VW T-Cross

January 19, 2024

Volkswagen was determined not to ruffle any feathers when its new T-Cross went on sale and decided it needed a name to fit the bill for a particularly vibrant-coloured paint option.

VW T-Cross Rubber Ducky Yellow

The company hatched a plan to let the public decide – and Rubber Ducky yellow was born.

The new T-Cross went on sale in the UK at the start of the year with its revamped design, enhanced standard equipment, new technology features and a newly designed high-quality interior.

Three new, fresh colours were also added to the model range: Clear blue metallic, Kings red metallic and a crisp, sporty yellow. But VW decided to let its many social media followers choose their favourite name for the new yellow paint – and the bath-time-inspired Rubber Ducky floated to the top with 46 per cent of the votes.

“Some might say putting a paint name to public vote is a quackers idea,” said Oliver Lowe, T-Cross Product Manager at Volkswagen UK. “But we were confident people wouldn’t get in a flap while trying to decide on a new name, and we think Rubber Ducky yellow was a really eggs-cellent choice.”

The new T-Cross in Rubber Ducky yellow is winging its way to UK showrooms now with prices starting from £23,965 on the road.
