Top honours for Motorpoint
December 2, 2015
Motorpoint has been named the UK’s number one independent car retailer by Motor Trader.
The highly respected motoring magazine awarded top spot to Motorpoint in its’ 2015 survey of the country’s Top 50 non-franchised independent used car retailers.
Motorpoint, which was named a Sunday Times Top 100 Company to Work for earlier this year, was singled out by analysts at Trend Tracker, working on behalf of Motor Trader, for its outstanding sales performance during the 2014-15 financial year when it turned over £551m. Motorpoint sold more than 41,000 vehicles during this period – up 13 per cent year on year – equivalent to one every four minutes.
This news comes only a matter of days after Motorpoint opened its ninth site in Birtley. The £5m supersite, which is only a short drive from J63 of the A1, forms part of an on-going expansion by the company. Motorpoint is scheduled to open two additional sites by the end of 2016, creating 100 jobs in the process.
Mark Carpenter, managing director of Motorpoint, said: “We’re thrilled to have been named the UK’s largest independent car retailer by Motor Trader. It would not have been possible though without the dedication and determination of each member of the Motorpoint team whose unwavering commitment to the business enables us to deliver a truly unique car buying experience for the thousands of customers who buy their car from us every year.”
